Dr. Melanie Albers, Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Albers is a Licensed Psychologist specializing in therapy and assessment for children, adolescents, and young adults. She has expertise in the evaluation and treatment of learning, mood, social, and behavioral problems and disorders, including dyslexia, anxiety, autism, and ADHD, and she has worked across a variety of settings, including public and private schools, and private practice.

Dr. Albers earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia and educational specialist (Ed.S.) and doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees in School Psychology at the University of South Florida. During her doctoral training, she participated in published research on the mental health of children and adolescents, and her doctoral dissertation focused on the promotion of adolescents’ well-being. Upon completion of her doctoral degree, she and her husband relocated to Greenville, SC, where she began working with Greenville County Schools. Her work in the school setting centered on supporting students’ learning and social-emotional functioning through psychoeducational assessments; consultation with families and school professionals; and the development of academic, behavioral, and social interventions, including IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) and 504 Plans. In addition to her work in schools, Dr. Albers completed her post-doctoral residency hours in a private practice setting under the supervision of Thomas Thorsheim, Ph.D. in Greenville and became licensed in 2014. Since then, she has provided psychological assessment, individual and group therapy, and parent consultation in a private practice setting.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Albers enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children.
